Serial Shoe-Store Robber Bought Airsoft Gun at Fridley Walmart, Police Say
Suspect hit Coon Rapids Payless, Shakopee Famous Footwear before 95-mph chase, standoff at Savage Target, police say.
The suspect who robbed Payless Shoes in Coon Rapids Saturday also robbed Famous Footwear in Shakopee Monday, according to police, before a 95-mph police chase ended with a standoff and his eventual arrest in a Target parking lot in Savage. Video from the Fridley Walmart store on Saturday evening shows the suspect purchasing an Airsoft pistol matching the weapon used the same evening in the Coon Rapids robbery, according to Coon Rapids Police Capt. John Hattstrom. Police have identified the suspect arrested Monday as a 42-year-old from Savage, but Hattstrom said he may have lived in Fridley recently and may soon be transferred to Anoka County jail.
