All in day's work for MN senator representing Fridley: She introduced legislation Thursday to put a stop to on-stage smoking and felon gun-rights.
Felons wouldn't be able to get their gun rights back and actors wouldn't be able to smoke on stage if two bills state Sen. Barb Goodwin introduced Thursday become law. The bill prohibiting felons from petitioning for restored firearms rights is the first legislation regarding guns in the new session of the Minnesota Legislature that started Jan. 8, 2013. Both the smoking and gun bills are issues Goodwin has pushed in previously at the Minnesota Senate:

The Springbrook bill in Senate File 24, introduced Friday, and House File 65, introduced Monday. Fridley's state senator, Barb Goodwin, and state representative, Connie Bernardy, are among the co-authors. The senate bill's next step is the Finance Committee, where Goodwin has a seat. Here is the text of the two bills (identical at this point): A bill for an act relating to capital investment; appropriating money for the Springbrook Nature Center; …

Barb Goodwin convened a meeting at the Minnesota Capitol Thursday to hear from city, state and federal officials about Fridley’s Superfund sites, standards for cleanup and future steps to take. About 20 officials and legislative staffers joined Goodwin (DFL-50), Rep.
