UPDATED: Thousands Lose Power Southeast of Fridley

A downed line was to blame. Most customers had electrical service restored by 7:50 p.m. Saturday in Columbia Heights, St. Anthony, New Brighton and Minneapolis.

Update (8 p.m. Saturday): Equipment failure—a downed power line—left as many as 3,700 Xcel Energy customers without electricity Saturday evening for more than an hour. But the line is back up, according to an Xcel spokesperson, and the major outage, which lasted one hour and 12 minutes, is over. See what people said and did in the dark, while it lasted. PHOTOS: SUV Rams Utility Pole in Fridley

The Chevy Suburban left the pole damaged, 'dangling' by wires.

No one was hurt when a Chevy Suburban plowed into a utility pole at Seventh Street and 57th Avenue NE in Fridley Tuesday evening. But the crash left the pole at the northeast corner of the intersection in bad shape—"hanging from the wires, danging," Fridley Police Sgt. Rick Cesare said. "It sheared [the pole] off." One commenter at the Fridley Patch Facebook page observed at about 5:20 p.m. that the SUV also was "heavily damaged." Another commenter said she "was having issues [with her utilities]." Utility crews appeared to be preparing to make repairs at 8 p.m., more than two hours after the crash. 15 in Fridley Area Will Wait 'til Noon Sunday to Get Power Back

Find out which residents will be without electricity for 36 hours.

Fifteen electrical customers in the Fridley area are experiencing power outages Saturday night, 24 hours after storms rolled through the Twin Cities. Five Fridley customers will wait more than 36 hours for the juice to return, according to Xcel Energy's online outage map. Located near Riverview Heights Park in Fridley's northwest corner, the unlucky customers were among the first in Fridley to lose power Friday night, at 11:30 p.m. Like the other 10 customers in scattered locations across the city, they can plan on getting electricity back on by noon Sunday, Xcel said. UPDATED: Some in Fridley Lose Electric Service during Storms

Xcel Energy estimates it will restore electric service Wednesday morning.

Update (11:05 a.m.): All customers in Fridley except the 31 who lost power at 9:29 a.m. Wednesday now have electricity again. Update (10:30 a.m.): One group of Fridley customers got electric service back after an early morning outage, but another area remains without power and two more areas have lost power, according to Xcel Energy. UPDATE: Amidst Heat Wave, Power out for 200 in Fridley, Columbia Heights

Xcel Energy predicted electricity would return at 11:36 p.m. Monday.

Update (1 a.m. Tuesday): Two Fridley customers remain without power, according to Xcel Energy, after a steamy evening in which as many as 200 in Fridley and Columbia Heights lost electricity. Update (10 p.m. Monday): Resident Tami Diehm tweeted to Fridley Patch just before 10 p.m. that power at her home had returned earlier than expected. The Next Day: More Than 100 Fridley Customers Still Lack Power

Sunday's storms led to outages that have lingered into Monday.

More than 100 customers in Fridley still lack power Monday morning after storms ushered in outages Sunday evening. Restoration of power for 106 Fridley homes is "in progress," according to Xcel Energy's online outage map. More than 200 customers were without power Sunday evening but roughly half had electrical service restored overnight.

Storms Leave 85 Customers in Fridley without Power

Electricity should be back for most by noon.

Storms overnight left 85 customers in Fridley without electricity, according to Xcel Energy's online map of outages.  Most of those should have power restored by 11:49 a.m. Sunday, according to the utility company's estimate.  One individual customer may have to wait until 8 p.m Sunday.  How have weekend storms affected you—flooding, power outages, something else? Power Outages Reported in Fridley Area

Xcel map shows spots in East River Road, Mounds View without electrical service.

The winter storm has taken a toll on electrical service in several local spots, including in Fridley near Manomin Park and at many locations to the east in Mounds View.  That's according to Xcel Energy's online map of outages as of 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
