New Bus Route 810 Changes Monday: Now Circulates Clockwise in the Afternoon Too

The afternoon route of Fridley's new bus line will match the morning.

Metro Transit has announced changes effective Monday to the new bus route that started running in Fridley last month. Route 810 buses will now circulate through Fridley in a clockwise direction on their afternoon runs, as they already do for morning runs. The counter-clockwise circulation along Mississippi Street NE, Old Central Avenue NE, Osborne Road NE and University Avenue NE led to "concerns about missed connections with Northstar trains," Metro Transit said in its announcement. Take a short video ride aboard Route 810 during its afternoon service. "This will allow buses to make a series of right turns instead of left turns, improving reliability and on-time performance," according to the announcement. The six trips each in the …

Man Pleads Guilty in OD Death at Fridley Hospital

Timothy LaMere supplied the synthetic drug 2C-E at a 2011 Blaine party that led to Trevor Robinson dying at Unity.

The man who brought the synthetic drug 2C-E to a Blaine house party last year, leading to a mass-overdose and one death at Fridley's Unity Hospital, pleaded guilty Thursday to third-degree murder. Timothy LaMere, 22, faces a nine-year, nine-month sentence as part of the plea agreement—the maximum under state law. LaMere told an Anoka County District judge he didn't realize the drugs were illegal, the Star Tribune reported. Robinson had turned 19 years old four days before the March 17, 2011 party. He died at Unity Hospital at 2 p.m. the next day, about 14 hours after Blaine police responded to a 911 call from a house party in the 9500 block of Monroe Street NE. By the time police arrived, others from the party had already taken Robinson to…

VIDEO: Take a Ride on Fridley's New Bus, Route 810

Route 810, Fridley's new circulator bus route, is increasing ridership.

The new Route 810 gives rush hour riders a 30-minute tour of Fridley, taking them from the Northstar Commuter Rail trains at Fridley Station to major area busineses, including Medtronic's Rice Creek campus, Cummins Power Generation and Unity Hospital. The route circulates 12 times daily during rush hours. Bus driver Mario Lee said ridership is still relatively low since the route's March 5 launch, with most afternoons so far seeing fewer than 10 customers.

Allina Email Mixup Sends Basic Patient Info to 250K Others

In May, Allina fired 28 worker at Fridley's Unity Hospital for data breach.

A computer glitch at Allina Hospitals and Clinics sent an email message with basic info on eight patients to 250,000 others, KSTP-TV reported Friday.  The message contained email addresses for the eight. That was enough to reveal (or suggest) their names, place of work and status as patients (see emails here). It happened, the report said, after the eight email accounts bounced the original message back to Allina's computer, which then re-sent the message with their email addresses included to the original 250,000 recipients. "We're no longer sending mass emails until we figure this out," an Allina spokesman told KSTP. Trial Set for Blaine Man Charged in 2C-E Drug Death

Victim died at Unity Hospital in Fridley last March.

Anoka County District Judge Alan Pendleton set April 6 as the date for the trial of Timothy LaMere, 21, of Blaine, on charges (see PDF) that he supplied the 2C-E drug that killed Trevor Robinson last March. Robinson, 19, of Coon Rapids, died at Unity Hospital in Fridley after friends brought him there from a party at a house in Blaine. LaMere will have another pretrial hearing on Feb. 8, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. The mother of Robinson's 14-month son spoke to reporters from the Pioneer Press and the Star Tribune after Wednesday's pretrial hearing. Alyssa DuCharme said she was frustrated by delays in LaMere's case, which Pendleton said were because of forensic and autopsy information that not yet filed with the court, …
