Kerry Steven Baker, 46, was dead at the scene Sunday on East River Road in Fridley.
Update (Tuesday, 4:30 p.m.): Investigators won't know for weeks whether the cyclist who died Sunday in a crash with a snowplow was impaired by alcohol or drugs. According to Cmdr. Paul Sommer of the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, "it has yet to be determined if alcohol or other chemicals played a role in the death. Toxicology typically takes weeks to get back." Kerry Steven Baker, 46, was dead at the scene when Fridley police arrived at the scene at 7 a.m. Sunday (about an hour before sunrise) in the 4700 block of East River Road. Fridley police found the 46-year-old man dead at the scene at 7 a.m. Sunday.

A bicyclist died from a crash with a snowplow truck in the 4700 block of East River Road just before 7 a.m. Sunday, according to Anoka County Emergency Dispatch. Fridley police responded to a call at 6:57 a.m. about a male hit by a plow truck. They found a 46-year-old man from New Brighton dead at the scene. Authorities said it appeared the bicyclist was struck in the left lane of traffic.* According to WCCO, the truck was headed south and the bicyclist was traveling north in a southbound lane at the time of the crash, and no one is in custody. The State Patrol said a worker from the MnDOT truck went to hospital.
A collision between a passenger car and a Minnesota Department of Transportation truck restricted traffic on northbound Highway 65 south of 68th Avenue NE Wednesday afternoon. Lt. Eric Roeske of the Minnesota State Patrol said a MnDOT employee from the truck went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He did not have information on anyone from the car. The crash occurred at about 1 p.m. Wednesday. An Allina ambulance left at approximately 1:40 p.m. Also on the scene were Fridley police and fire departments as well as the Minnesota State Patrol. so are we blaming kerry for being killed, do we not ask what the driver was doing and why he didnt see him with or without lights or a helmet, its a straight road the truck should have lights the driver should be alert, we didnt even get enough snow to be bothered with, the snow is gone and so is he......... more ›
