Another stop for Brockovich? St. Michael's Appeal for Cancer Probe Also Answered

As with Fridley, state officials and the famed consumer advocate are examining St. Michael.

Fridley isn't the only Minnesota city in Erin Brockovich's sights.  The famous consumer advocate, already lending her star power to Fridley with an investigation into the city’s elevated cancer rates, might look into the situation in St. Michael as well. That's according to e-mails exchanged between a St. Michael resident and the staff of the former legal assistant best known for her case against the Pacific Gas and Electric Company—which led to a $300 million settlement and to her portrayal by Julia Roberts in a 2000 movie dramatization. St. Michael's Michelle Miller reached out to Brockovich after the death of 16-year-old Luke Letellier last month. Was There A Funnel Cloud Over Fridley on Tuesday?

The Storm Prediction Center and National Weather Service say there is no way to confirm.

Residents spotted funnel-shaped clouds Tuesday night over Fridley, but weather experts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Storm Prediction Center (SPC) and the National Weather Service say there is no way to confirm whether they were actually funnel clouds. Weather organizations also said they are not going to spend the time investigating. “Funnel clouds are interesting and sometimes scary, but they don’t produce any damage,” said Greg Spoden, climatologist for the State Climatology Office. Instead, severe weather spotters from the National Weather Service focused on tornadoes, hail, and high winds, because those produce damage.
