Sentence of 13 Years for Man Convicted of Robbing Osborne Road Store

Steven Eugene Daniels of Fridley had pleaded guilty to holding up Discount Tobacco and Groceries.

A federal judge sentenced Steven Eugene Daniels of Fridley to 160 months in prison Monday for the June 14, 2012 armed robbery of Discount Tobacco and Groceries, 315 Osborne Rd. NE, Fridley. Daniels was convicted of one count of interference with commerce by robbery, according to a statement from the office of the U.S. Attorney for Minnesota. As part of a plea deal, Daniels admitted he accompanied another man he knew only as "Joker" to rob the store, and that "Joker" was armed. Daniels took money from the till and both fled, leading to an unsuccessful overnight search for the accomplice. Related:

On Friday, prosecutors filed charges against two men police say shoplifted at Menards in Fridley, then threatened security employees with a knife as they loaded their car. Fridley Police Say They Nabbed Knife-Flashing Shoplift Duo

They pushed a shopping cart with more than $651 in merchandise out of Menards, police say, then menaced store security.

They had a cartful of merchandise they hadn't paid for, police say—and a knife. But a two-person shoplifting team didn't get far from the Fridley Menards store about 9:30 a.m. Thursday after they threatened store security personnel with a knife, according to police. Two men are in Anoka County jail pending charges: a 21-year-old from Fridley arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and assault with a dangerous weapon, and a 26-year-old from Minneapolis arrested on suspicion of assault with a dangerous weapon, theft and driving after license revocation. Charges Filed against Fridley Man Police Claim Is Serial Shoe Store Robber

A Fridley man who police say robbed two shoe stores with a gun he bought at the Fridley Walmart now faces formal charges in Scott County. A criminal complaint against Peter Christopher Nunn, 42, includes four counts related to a robbery prosecutors say he committed Monday at a Famous Footwear store in Shakopee. Charge: Fridley Man 'Yanked' $15K Diamond Ring Off Jewelry Salesperson's Finger

A Fridley man now faces a charge first-degree aggravated robbery in what police say was a strong-arm jewelry store heist on Dec. 30 at Kay Jewelers in Coon Rapids. At the store, a salesperson showed him a 1.56-carat diamond ring worth $15,599, Matthew Thomas Kennedy "suddenly grabbed the ring, yanked it off of her finger, and ran out the door," according to a criminal complaint filed Thursday. Fridley Man Arrested in Coon Rapids Jewelry Store Heist

Anoka County Sheriff's Office calls publicity from store-video images 'decisive factor.'

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of a suspect in the Dec. 30, 2012 robbery at Key Jewelry in Coon Rapids. The suspect, a 23-year-old man whose last known address was in Fridley, has not yet been charged. Fridley Patch does not generally report suspects' names until prosecutors file a criminal complaint. The suspect snatched a $15,000 diamond ring, according to police. Authorities publicized still images and video clips from surveillance video cameras, both at Kay Jewelry and at another Anoka County jewelry store that the same suspect visited. Serial Shoe-Store Robber Bought Airsoft Gun at Fridley Walmart, Police Say

Suspect hit Coon Rapids Payless, Shakopee Famous Footwear before 95-mph chase, standoff at Savage Target, police say.

The suspect who robbed Payless Shoes in Coon Rapids Saturday also robbed Famous Footwear in Shakopee Monday, according to police, before a 95-mph police chase ended with a standoff and his eventual arrest in a Target parking lot in Savage. Video from the Fridley Walmart store on Saturday evening shows the suspect purchasing an Airsoft pistol matching the weapon used the same evening in the Coon Rapids robbery, according to Coon Rapids Police Capt. John Hattstrom. Police have identified the suspect arrested Monday as a 42-year-old from Savage, but Hattstrom said he may have lived in Fridley recently and may soon be transferred to Anoka County jail. Anoka Sheriff Releases 9 More Photos of Jewelry Store Robbery Suspect

Strong-arm heist happened Dec. 30 at Kay Jewelry in Coon Rapids, sheriff's office says, but new photos show same suspect at different store.

The young man who robbed a $15,000 diamond ring Dec. 30, 2012, from a Coon Rapids jewelry store showed his face at another Anoka County jewelers', according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, and they want you to see the pictures. Nine new photos show what the sheriff's office says may be the same suspect a day earlier at a different store in Anoka. Earlier, the sheriff's office released first still photos and then a video clip that a surveillance camera caught during the alleged robbery.
