Fridley outpaced the metro area in August with a 30 percent increase in average home sales price over the same period in 2011.
Real estate is officially a hot investment again. The Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors (MAAR) announced Wednesday that for the sixth consecutive month, local real estate prices were higher in August on a year-over-year basis. The median price, regionwide, was up 15.5 percent from the same month last year, to $179,000. And the average sales price was $222,922, up 10.4 percent and marking the seventh consecutive month of annual increases. Even in the boom period from January 2003 to January 2004, median prices in the Twin Cities area were only increasing by about 7 percent a year. Flashlights were involved in the 6:30 p.m. incident.
You know the real estate market isn't what it should be when a showing at a house that is for sale prompts a suspicious-activity call to police. In fairness, the Dec. 1 incident occurred at 6:26 p.m., so it was dark. The person making the report said two vehicles arrived at a house in the 5800 block of Sixth Street NE. The vehicles' occupants got out and started walking around the house with flashlights. Police dispatched to the scene discovered a real estate agent and prospective buyers.
