Feds say Peter Christopher Nunn of Fridley robbed Payless in Coon Rapids and Famous Footwear in Shakopee in January. Maximum sentence: 40 years.

A Fridley man accused of using a BB gun from the Fridley Walmart to rob shoe stores in Coon Rapids and Shakopee was indicted in federal court Tuesday on charges carrying a maximum sentence of 40 years. Serial Shoe-Store Robber Bought Airsoft Gun at Fridley Walmart, Police Say

Suspect hit Coon Rapids Payless, Shakopee Famous Footwear before 95-mph chase, standoff at Savage Target, police say.

The suspect who robbed Payless Shoes in Coon Rapids Saturday also robbed Famous Footwear in Shakopee Monday, according to police, before a 95-mph police chase ended with a standoff and his eventual arrest in a Target parking lot in Savage. Video from the Fridley Walmart store on Saturday evening shows the suspect purchasing an Airsoft pistol matching the weapon used the same evening in the Coon Rapids robbery, according to Coon Rapids Police Capt. John Hattstrom. Police have identified the suspect arrested Monday as a 42-year-old from Savage, but Hattstrom said he may have lived in Fridley recently and may soon be transferred to Anoka County jail. Updated: Payless Shoes Robbery Leads to Search at Springbrook Apts. in Fridley

Updated below. A robbery at Payless Shoes in Coon Rapids at 8:50 p.m. Saturday led to a police search a short distance south in the area of the Springbrook Apartments in Fridley. As of 9:50 p.m., police had not found a suspect, according to Anoka County Emergency Dispatch. The Police Clips Facebook page, which gathers information from law enforcement scanners, reported: Armed Robbery of business in Coon Rapids, MN Suspect locked employees in the bathroom and escaped.
