A Fridley man accused of using a BB gun from the Fridley Walmart to rob shoe stores in Coon Rapids and Shakopee was indicted in federal court Tuesday on charges carrying a maximum sentence of 40 years. The suspect who robbed Payless Shoes in Coon Rapids Saturday also robbed Famous Footwear in Shakopee Monday, according to police, before a 95-mph police chase ended with a standoff and his eventual arrest in a Target parking lot in Savage. Video from the Fridley Walmart store on Saturday evening shows the suspect purchasing an Airsoft pistol matching the weapon used the same evening in the Coon Rapids robbery, according to Coon Rapids Police Capt. John Hattstrom. Updated below. A robbery at Payless Shoes in Coon Rapids at 8:50 p.m. Saturday led to a police search a short distance south in the area of the Springbrook Apartments in Fridley. As of 9:50 p.m., police had not found a suspect, according to Anoka County Emergency Dispatch.
