The warning is in effect from 3 p.m. Wednesday to 7 p.m. Thursday. Look out for heavy snow falling as fast as 1–2 inches per hour.
Happy May Day. Now that we've taken care of that, there's a new Winter Storm Warning from the National Weather Service for Fridley promising "heavy snow"—like as many as 9 inches. We're likely to set a record for the most snow we've ever had in the month of May, according to WCCO-AM. Here is the text of the Winter Storm Warning that the National Weather Service announced at 3:54 a.m. Wednesday: RARE MAY SNOW STORM TO IMPACT THE REGION THROUGH THURSDAY A cold front will stall over southern Wisconsin into central Iowa through tonight. Several areas of low pressure will shift northeast along this front, working within a strong surge of incoming colder air to produce periods of moderate to heavy accumulating snow over the region, mainly this …

The National Weather Service in Chanahassen has issued a Winter Storm Warning for much of East and Central Minnesota, including the Twin Cities. The storm will hit Thursday night into Friday morning.
At this point, we may all be April's fools. The second major snowfall in a little more than a week is expected to slam into the Twin Cities area Thursday night and drop up to six inches of fresh snow on Fridley by Friday morning, marking the second straight Friday residents here will wake up to white. While last Thursday's snow totals came in under forecasted amounts, this storm is packing some moisture with it, and the Twin Cities area should see snow beginning Thursday night and extending into Friday. That should create yet another messy, miserable commute for Friday morning as well. Talk back to winter. Leave a comment below. The official weather statement, via the National Weather Service: THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TWIN CITIES/…

But just to the west many Minnesota counties are facing a Blizzard Warning issued by the National Weather Service.

It's March Madness as the CoCoRaHS program seeks local precipitation observers.
How much has it snowed in Fridley? If you join the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail & Snow (CoCoRaHS) Network, it could be you telling the National Weather Service how much snow falls locally, rather than the other way around. CoCoRaHS is a national network of precipitation observers whose measurements of snow, rain and hail help the NWS and other federal weather agencies predict floods and droughts, and take account of the situation when severe weather hits. Because Minnesota already had an existing backyard rain gauge network since the 1970s known as MNGage or HIDEN, Minnesota was one of the last states to join CoCoRaHS, according to Michelle Margraf, meteorologist and Central Minnesota CoCoRaHS cooordinator for the National Weather …

Snowfall spreading from Sunday night 'til Tuesday in parts of MN including Anoka County, the National Weather Service warned Sunday.
The National Weather Service upped the ante Sunday morning on the snowstorm coming Fridley's way starting Sunday night. Parts of Minnesota under a Winter Storm Warning the NWS issued late Sunday morning could get as much as 12 inches of snow as the storm passes in two waves. That would be more than twice as much snow as the NWS was predicting as recently as Saturday night in its Winter Storm Watch. Here is what the NWS said in its Sunday morning statement about the coming storm: SNOW SPREADING IN TONIGHT AND LASTING THROUGH TUESDAY... A WINTER STORM WILL IMPACT THE NORTHERN PLAINS AND UPPER MIDWEST BEGINNING TONIGHT AND LASTING THROUGH TUESDAY. THIS SYSTEM WILL BRING SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 6-10 INCHES TO MUCH OF CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN …
The National Weather Service in Chanhassen has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Twin Cities, including Anoka County. More than five inches of new snow could fall on Fridley.
Yet another winter storm, the third in four weeks, is set to make its arrival in the Twin Cities area Sunday night, dropping heavy snow through Monday and bringing some windy conditions to make the morning commute difficult. The National Weather Service in Chanhassen has issued a winter storm watch for this yet-to-be-named system, which is coming across the Rockies Sunday and should drop its heaviest snow overnight Sunday into Monday. The track of the storm is still in doubt, the weather service said, but the metro should, after more than four days of above average temps and some actual snow melt, see a good dose of new precipitation. A complete rundown of the system, and the NWS forecast, can be seen in the YouTube video. Here's the …

The storm that dropped wet gloppy snow on Tucson, AZ on Wednesday will really sock it to the Midwest Thursday and Friday—but mostly south of Minnesota, forecasters say, with a maximum of six inches falling on Fridley. What the Weather Channel is calling "Winter Storm Q" will arrive around midnight Thursday. Snow will continue through Friday, tapering off in the afternoon.
