Public Hearing on Cremations at Miller Funeral Home at Fridley City Council

The hearing is at the council's regular Monday evening meeting. A zoning change would allow cremations in an existing accessory building at the funeral home.

Miller Funeral Home has asked the Fridley City Council to add a crematory as an accessory use in C-3 General Shopping zoning districts. The council will hold a public hearing on the proposed text amendement to city's zoning code at its regular meeting on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012. According to a staff report (see second PDF thumbnail): The petitioner, Shannon Asmus, on behalf of the Miller Funeral Home, is seeking a text amendment to add language to the C‐ 3, General Shopping zoning district; that would allow a crematory as an accessory to the mortuary use at the subject property, which is located at 6210 Hwy 65. Fridley native Chuck Olsen, a video documentarian currently covering the Aspen Ideas Festival in Colorado, forwarded Fridley Patch this photo posted at the Instagram account of hiphop act Atmosphere. You could say Atmosphere frequents Fridley, judging by social media.
