The April 17 meeting at Fridley City Hall concerns the former FMC site on East River Road.
A public meeting Wednesday at Fridley City Hall concerns a redevelopment plan for a site in southwest Fridley that the Star Tribune called "one of the most polluted sites in Fridley." The developer told the newspaper:" “We want to develop a modern business park with 12 new buildings totaling 1.6 million square feet. That will be home to 50 different companies. That’s a much more diverse and sustainable economic base for the city,” [developer Paul] Hyde said. “We should have almost 3,000 jobs on the site and almost $3 million in new property taxes annually.” ... “They’ll purchase it, clean it up and put it back to good use creating new jobs, generating new taxes and new opportunities,” said Fridley Community Redevelopment Director Scott …

Council OKs scope for environmental study of former FMC site on East River Road in Fridley.
The man with a plan for the commercial redevelopment of what's thought to be the largest single available industrial site in Minnesota calls a Fridley City Council action last week "a major hurdle." That's according to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, which took stock of the project' progress in an article last week, after the council approved the Alternative Urban Area-wide Review (AUAR) Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) Scoping Document for the redevelopment of 122 acres at the former FMC Munitions Facility property along East River Road, in Fridley's southwest corner: "We think this is a major hurdle needed in the process for us to make this redevelopment happen," said Paul Hyde, the principal of Hyde Development who is…

The council holds a public hearing at its meeting Monday about environmental study of the FMC site BAE Systems now occupies. See the council agenda here for other matters under discussion.
What should the public know about environmental issues at the East River Road industrial site where BAE Systems is located before a planned redevelopment gets underway? The Fridley City Council will hold a public hearing at its regular meeting on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, to discuss that question. The next item on the council's agenda is whether to approve the Scoping Document for the Alternative Urban Area-Wide Review (AUAR) at the site, also known as the FMC site. See the draft AUAR for the FMC site here. The council will also vote on a new map for approved locations for cell phone towers and conduct other city business, including zoning code concerning home-based businesses (see agenda below or in detail in PDF). A special Fridley City …

Pollution on Fridley Superfund site at issue in redevelopment, as KARE 11 reported Tuesday.
Wednesday is the deadline for public comment on an environmental study of the former FMC site on East River Road in Fridley, where BAE Systems is located. A planned redevelopment there, announced 11 months ago, was the subject of a KARE 11 report Tuesday night. The project would convert a Superfund site into new industrial, office and even retail uses. In an email earlier this month, City of Fridley's Community Development Director Scott Hickok said FMC is the biggest single industrially-zoned site up for redevelopment in Minnesota. "It is 122 acres, with 1.6 to 1.8 million square feet of proposed future development to replace the 2 million square feet of building that exists," according to Hickok. Hickok also praised the project's prime …
