Garrison Keillor: 'To Me, Fridley Was an Exotic Place'

The radio host was the featured guest at a campaign fundraiser in the race for the seat representing Fridley in new House District 41A.

“Did you get a chance to talk to Garrison Keillor? … There’s the big guy! … Look, it’s Garrison with his red socks,” said the donors for DFL-endorsed candidate Connie Bernardy while they munched on the bruschetta and gyro meat for which they’d paid $35 to $100 a plate at her Shorewood Bar and Grill fundraiser. Bernardy, who is running for the new state House District 41A seat that includes all of Fridley, said Thursday evening’s campaign fundraiser would be her largest such event of the election season. Garrison Keillor at the Shorewood in Fridley Tuesday to Help DFL MN House Candidate Connie Bernardy

The humorist is the featured guest at a campaign fundraiser in the race for the seat representing Fridley in new House District 41A.

Minnesota celebrity Garrison Keillor comes to Fridley Tuesday in an effort to raise money for DFL-endorsed candidate Connie Bernardy as she seeks election to the Minnesota House of Representatives.  Bernardy won the DFL endorsement to seek new the state House District 41A seat that includes all of Fridley in April. Her opponent is Republican Dale Helm. There is no incumbent in the race. Redistricting put both state DFL Reps. Tom Tillberry and Kate Knuth into the district and both are retiring from the Legislature. Keillor is the featured guest at the fundraising event for Bernardy, which will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Shorewood Bar and Grill.
