Funeral for John "Jack" Meyer Set for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Philip's

He served Fridley on HRA board, school board and historical society.

The life of a Fridley leader will be celebrated Thursday when friends and family of John "Jack" Meyer gather for his memorial service at St. Philip's Lutheran Church. The service is set for 10 a.m., with visitation beforehand and a reception afterwards. Burial is at Fort Snelling. Meyer, who died Jan. 2, 2013, at the age of 89, was a devoted volunteer in Fridley, serving nine years on the District 14 school board and three decades on the city's Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) board. He was also "a very loyal member of the Fridley Historical Society since it came into existence, and always available to help the Society in any way he could," according to the organization's past president, Robert Christenson.
