Fridley High Boys Basketball Last Home Games vs. Irondale Tuesday

It's Parent Night and Senior Night at FHS.

Root on the Tiger boys one last time at the Fridley High School home basketball court Tuesday night. From the Fridley Backcourt Club Facebook page: Last home game for the boys this evening! Fridley's Colter Allen Named to StarTribune's Athletes of the Week

The FHS junior was featured in the newspaper's list of seven high school athletes.

Fridley High School junion Colter Allen is featured in the Star Tribune's Athletes of the Week column Tuesday. Allen was named swimmer of the year by coaches in Section 4, Class 1A, the Star Tribune reported. He won the 100 butterfly and the 200 freestyle races. But Allen has his sights set on the boys swim and dive state tournament, which starts Thursday. "The real goal is to win state," he told the newspaper. Allen also gave props to teammate Alex Ambuhl, who won the 50 and 100 freestyles. They swam together on the FHS teams that won the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. Olympic Committee Decision to Drop Wrestling Leaves Fridley Coach 'Completely Shocked'

'Efforts are already being made to bring the sport back,' said Eric Anderson.

The International Olympic Committee's announcement that the Olympics will drop wrestling as a sport in 2020 stunned many people—including Eric Anderson, head wrestling coach at Fridley High School: I was completely shocked to hear those announcements. I lost a lot of respect for the Olympic Games. Wrestling was part of the Ancient Olympics and the Modern Olympics. There is still a chance for wrestling to be added back. Luckily we are a hard working group of people and efforts are already being made to bring the sport back. Anderson also reflected by email on the 2012–13 wrestling season at FHS, and looked ahead to the coming weekend: Fridley has enjoyed an excellent varsity season. Totino-Grace Third in AA High Kick Dance at State

Spring Lake Park and Fridley finish seasons in the limelight at Target Center.

The E'Gals dance team of Totino-Grace High School placed third in the state high kick Class AA dance tournament Saturday. 'Standing and Screaming': Fridley, Spring Lake Park, Totino-Grace Jazz Dance

Three local teams 'killed it' at the Minnesota state dance tournament's first day, and the E'Gals and Pantherettes advanced to the finals. One team placed third in its class. On Saturday, all three return to Target Center for state high kick competition.

Three Fridley-area dance teams performed in the jazz dance competition Friday, the first day of the Minnesota state dance team tournament at Target Center. Fans in the stands and on Twitter were wild about the performances of teams from Fridley High School, Totino-Grace High School and Spring Lake Park High School.
