Fridley Man Struck and Killed on I-35W in Richfield

Hamed E. Nahi Alsaady, 51, was dead at the scene, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

A Fridley man died Friday evening on I-35W when a car struck him as he was alongside his semi trailer truck checking a blown tire, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Hamed E. Nahi Alsaady, 51, was dead at the scene on the right shoulder of southbound I-35W at 66th Street S. in Richfield, an online State Patrol report said. A 1997 Dodge Stratus, driven by Joselyn L. Racine, 21, of St. Paul, drifted to the right, striking the semi and its driver, according to the report. Her injuries were minor. Police ID Pedestrian Killed by Train in Fridley

John Robert Iverson, 29, of Blaine died on BNSF tracks north of 77th Way NE at 8 p.m. Monday.

Update (12:15 p.m. Tuesday): The St. Paul Pioneer Press contacted the father of John Robert Iverson, the 29-year-old Blaine man who was hit by a freight train and killed in Fridley Monday night:  The incident was the result of a horrible accident, Robert Iverson, John Iverson's father, said when reached at his Blaine home Tuesday. He said that his son had no children and was not married. "He was just a sweet, loving person," Robert Iverson said. Updated: Motorcyclist Dies in Fridley Crash

The 24-year-old man was trying to make a turn Saturday night. He wasn't wearing a helmet.

Updated below. A crash in Fridley kiled a 24-year-old motorcyclist Saturday night. Nicholas Alexander Owczynsky was trying to turn right from southbound University Avenue NE to westbound 73rd Avenue NE at about 9:15 p.m. when he crashed to the pavement, according to a statement from Cmdr. Paul Sommer of the Anoka County Sheriff's Office. Owczynsky was not wearing a helmet at the time, Sommer said. He sustained was massive trauma to the head. He went to Hennepin County Medical Center in grave condition and died there later Saturday.
