Here's When Daylight Savings Ends

Dark mornings make you wonder when will it be time to set clocks back—and replace smoke-alarm batteries?

Your 7:30 a.m. commute is about to get lighter. Officially, Daylight Savings Time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012. Remember, you’ll “fall back” that night and set your clocks back one hour. Many electronic devices automatically adjust when Daylight Savings Time begins or ends. When you change your clocks in the fall and spring, it’s also a good time to change smoke detector batteries and check that the devices are in working order. That wasn't the case in two-thirds of the Fridley homes the Fridley Fire Department visited as part of a recent Fire Prevention Week promotion with Domino's pizza delivery. Move clocks one hour ahead; change smoke alarm batteries too.

It's time to spring forward into Daylight Savings Time. Alas, the change of the clock means a few groggy mornings for many, rather than anything springy to speak of. As of 2 a.m. Sunday, your clocks should have moved ahead by one hour to 3 a.m. For those with Sunday morning plans, consider setting a reliable house clock or watch ahead one hour before going to sleep on Saturday and check your cell phone settings to prevent any snafus —it's always wise to have a backup.  Take our love/hate poll on daylight saving time below.  Why all the hassle?
