Updated: 'People on the Ice Skating Rink, Taking off Their Clothes As They Dance'

From Briardale Park in Fridley, another report of scanty attire, this time in midwinter.

Update (10 a.m. Sunday): It was all over within eight minutes, it seems. According to the Fridley Police Department's log, it was 9:43 p.m. Saturday when the report came in of "a dozen people on the ice skating rink taking their clothes off as they dance" at Briardale Park. Police arrived at the park at 9:50 p.m. They cleared the scene a minute later. To Sgt. Jim Mork, who reviewed the log Sunday morning, that indicates that the perpetrators were either gone on arrival or had already put their clothes back on. It takes longer than a minute for an officer to instruct a dozen people to get dressed and go home, he explained. Original post (11 p.m. Saturday): This report crackled over the Anoka County Emergency Dispatch radio Saturday night…

Robert Comer and Russ Olson won the "500" tournament.

Senior citizens took center stage for '49er Days Friday, with "500" and cribbage tournaments and an afternoon dance, all at Fridley Community Center. Winners of the "500" card game tournament were Robert Comer and Russ Olson. Others in the top six: Meanwhile, couples converged on the community center gym where Dick Szyplinski supplied music for a senior dance.
