'We were screaming, telling her like to stop,' one of the teenage passengers told WCCO-TV about the April 27, 2013 one-vehicle crash on University Avenue NE near I-694 that injured all seven aboard.
An SUV driver's attempt to race a Ferrari on University Avenue NE in Fridley on Saturday led to the one-vehicle rollover crash that seriously injured all seven aboard, one of the injured passengers told WCCO-TV. WCCO-TV reporter Reg Chapman interviewed the teenager: “There was this man in a Ferrari that was next to us, and then the lady that was driving the car that we was in, she started to try and race him,” Davis said. “We were screaming, telling her like to stop…and she got in front of him, and she started swerving left to right, left to right. Driver, 35, and passenger, 47, are in fair condition. Conditions of four teenage passengers range from serious to satisfactory.
The youngest person in the SUV that rolled over Saturday on University Avenue NE at I-694 in Fridley is the only one of the seven injured people to be listed in critical condition on Monday. On Sunday, WCCO reported that both the boy and the driver, Jennifer L. Teetzel, were in critical condition at North Memorial Medical Center. Another Fridley woman, 74, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Unity Hospital.
One woman from Fridley sustained fatal injuries and another woman from Fridley was seriously hurt Thursday morning in a three-car crash at 109th Avenue and Highway 65 in Blaine, according to the Blaine Police Department. The woman who died was 85 and a passenger in a Chevrolet Malibu which the other Fridley woman, 74, was driving, Blaine police said in a press release. Truck landed on trooper's squad car on eastbound I-694 at Matterhorn Drive NE Sunday.
A pickup truck spun and crashed into a Minnesota State Patrol vehicle on I-694 in Fridley Sunday, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Note: The photo at right is a file photo showing a different State Patrol car, from the post Troopers' Peril Hits Close to Home. Involved were a 50-year-old man from Minneapolis who was driving the pickup, or his passenger, a 36-year-old woman from Minneapolis, and the man from Golden Valley driving the state patrol vehicle, according to the State Patrol's report. No one was hurt in the incident, which occurred on an icy side street.
Updated. A car crashed into a power pole at 44th Avenue and Third Street NE, according to scanner reports. No one was injured, according to a Columbia Heights police officer at the scene. The vehicle had been towed away by 7 a.m., approximately an hour after the crash. Contrary to early reports, the pole is not down, but a power line hung low over 44th Avenue at 7 a.m. Tuesday as utility crew on the scene was making repairs. Electrical service did not appear to be interrupted in the immediate area. Ronald Talbot was dead at the scene Thursday morning, according to the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office.
A crash involving three vehicles Thursday morning in Big Lake Township left a Fridley resident dead, according to the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office. Ronald Talbot, 48, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened just before 10 a.m. near the intersection of 211th Avenue and County Road 15, a statement from the sheriff's office said. The drivers of the two other vehicles—Blane Travis, 52, and Donna Travis, 54, of Elk River, who are married—were taken to area hospitals with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. (Donna Travis was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital and Blane Travis was taken by ambulance to New River Hospital.) A man from Fridley riding a snowmobile along Highway 210 near Fergus Falls drove into a mailbox Saturday, the Forum of Fargo-Moorhead reported. Read the full article at InForum.com here. Michael Olsen of Fridley was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, the newspaper said. The crash damaged the snowmobile and mailbox. A snowplow and passenger vehicle collided at University and 73rd avenues NE in Fridley Monday shortly after 10 a.m. An ambulance was sent to the scene on a routine basis, Fridley Police Lt. Mike Monsrud said, indicating that injuries, if any, were very minor. He said he didn't know who, if anyone, was injured. The Minnesota State Patrol was headed to the crash site to write up the incident, Monsrud said, as is routine for crashes involving plows on state highways.
