Police Seek Tips on Hit-and-Run That Injured Coon Rapids Officer

in a crime alert Monday, the Coon Rapids Police Department announced a $500 reward in connection with a hit-and-run incident Saturday that left a Coon Rapids Police community service officer with minor injuries. According to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office press release: On January 12, 2013 at approximately 1950 hrs, a Coon Rapids Police Community Service Officer (Uniformed, non sworn) was assisting a motorist on Eastbound Highway 10, west of Hanson Blvd when she was struck from behind by the passenger side mirror of a passing vehicle.  The CSO was knocked into her vehicle and then to the ground.  The CSO was transported to the hospital and she suffered only minor injuries to her ribs, shoulder and face.  She was released from the …

Serial Shoe-Store Robber Bought Airsoft Gun at Fridley Walmart, Police Say

Suspect hit Coon Rapids Payless, Shakopee Famous Footwear before 95-mph chase, standoff at Savage Target, police say.

The suspect who robbed Payless Shoes in Coon Rapids Saturday also robbed Famous Footwear in Shakopee Monday, according to police, before a 95-mph police chase ended with a standoff and his eventual arrest in a Target parking lot in Savage. Video from the Fridley Walmart store on Saturday evening shows the suspect purchasing an Airsoft pistol matching the weapon used the same evening in the Coon Rapids robbery, according to Coon Rapids Police Capt. John Hattstrom. Police have identified the suspect arrested Monday as a 42-year-old from Savage, but Hattstrom said he may have lived in Fridley recently and may soon be transferred to Anoka County jail. Fridley Man, 58, Arrested for Murder After Giving Woman Prescription Drugs

The man is expected to be released Tuesday as authorities investigate the case.

A 58-year-old Fridley man was arrested and placed in Anoka County Jail Sunday on suspicion of third-degree murder after he allegedly gave an opium-based prescription drug to a Coon Rapids acquaintance, ABC Newspapers is reporting. A 33-year-old woman was found dead Sunday morning in her Coon Rapids apartment by the Fridley man who told police he had met her at a bar Saturday evening and only knew her first name, according to ABC Newspapers. The man said they went back to her apartment because she wasn’t feeling well. The Fridley man can only be held until noon Tuesday without being charged, and Cmdr. Paul Sommer of the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office told the Pioneer Press that he would likely be released while the investigation into the …
