Updated: Police Arrest Man in Fridley Wal-Mart Child-groping Case

Columbia Heights search led to arrest in Crystal.

Update (4 p.m.): The man arrested Friday in the Fridley Wal-mart child-groping case will not be charged until Tuesday, according to Cmdr. Paul Sommer of the Anoka County Sheriff's Office. Sommer said officers from his department arrested the Columbia Heights resident without incident at his place of employment in Crystal. According to the county website, he is now in the Anoka County jail. My daughter let me know immediatley and we contacted the first store official we saw. i tryed to see over shelves for the guy by daughters discription. he was gone! we called the police we did everything we should have. Fridley Man Sentenced for Failing to Report to Prison on Child-porn Conviction

Matthew Eric Linngren got 14 months tacked onto his original 180-month sentence.

A federal judge added 14 months Monday to the sentence of a Fridley man who didn't show up last fall to start serving a 180-month prison sentence.  U.S. District Court Judge Donovan M. Frank could have tacked as long as 10 years onto Matthew Eric Linngren's prison time.  Linngren, 38, fled to California instead of reporting for prison on Sept. 22, but authorities there picked him up on auto-theft charges two weeks later.  He pled guilty to failing to surrender to authorities on Jan. 13.  Linngren's original sentence was for distribution of child pornography. He confessed to sending more than 600 explicit photos of minors to a Yahoo group in 2005 as part of a plea agreement last year. Any charges on the alleged auto theft are up to …
