UPDATED: Pedestrian Hurt in Hit-and-Run at Central/53rd Was Crossing Against Signal, Sheriff Says

Man Found Badly Hurt by Hwy. 65 Still Critical, Police Say

Anoka County Sheriff's Office will give update on his case Monday.

The mystery of the man found critically injured along Hwy. 65 in Fridley Saturday continues to confound investigators. The man, who authorities have not identified except by age (23), was found lying in a snowy ditch in the 7300 block of Hwy. 65 at 3 a.m. Saturday with a traumatic head injury and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center according to the Star Tribune. Fridley Police Lt. Mike Monsrud said that according to the latest information he had seen, the man was still in critical condition and not able to speak or tell anyone what happened. Hwy. 65 in Fridley to Close This Weekend

Southbound lanes close at noon on Friday; northbound lanes will close at 7 p.m.

Fridley City Council Member Jim Saefke said at the end of the council's meeting Monday evening at City Hall that he wanted everybody who uses state Hwy. 65/Central Avenue NE to know that the road would be closed this weekend. A detour will be set up on Mississippi Street NE, University Avenue NE (Hwy. 47) and Osborne Road NE to avoid the closure, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. (See MnDOT announcement here.) MnDOT has told Fridley officials that southbound Hwy. 65 will be closed from noon Friday, Oct. 28, until 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31.
