Fridley Girls Basketball Plays Games Postponed After St. Louis Park Player Died of Flu

She was one of 127 Minnesotans to die of influenza-related causes this flu season.

Update: Fridley fell 43-37 to St. Louis Park Thursday in a girls basketball varsity game that went into overtime at St. Louis Park.  The teams were tied 33-33 at the end of the second half. Original post: The Fridley High School JV/freshmen and varsity girls basketball team travel to St. Louis Park High School Thursday for games that were rescheduled from Jan. 8, 2013—a day after St. Louis Park player Carly Christenson's flu-related death. The JV/freshman game is at 5:45 p.m. and the varsity game is at 7:15 p.m., according to the Fridley Backcourt Club Facebook page. A death from flu on the St. Louis Park High School JV girls basketball team prompted postponement of three games with Fridley teams Tuesday. Carly Christenson, a St. Louis Park teen stricken with Influenza A since Dec. 20, died Tuesday afternoon, according to WCCO and a family statement on a church Facebook page. All three games between girls teams from Fridley High School and St. Louis Park High School are postponed, according to the Fridley High School website. The JV, 9A and Varsity games were set for 5:45 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. at St. Louis Park High School.
