Updated below. Fridley Police K9 teams may see a second night of search duty Tuesday, as authorities assembled resources in Andover to search for the victim of a train-car crash on the Burlington-Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks. According to the Anoka County emergency scanner, the victim in the crash lives nearby and may have tried to walk home. Searchers divided the area into quadrants and were seeking a fourth police dog to help. Fridley had a dog available, according to the dispatch radio. We're heading off on our first road trip since we became a family of four, and I'm scared to death.
Memorial Day Weekend is almost here, the official launch of summer and weeks when the Land of 10,000 Lakes becomes the highway of 10,000 road trips. We're getting an early start on the family vacation this year with a long weekend in Omaha for my grandmother's 90th birthday, an event I'm both excited about and filled with dread over. I can't wait to finally greet my family, many of whom have never even seen our new son, except via Facebook pictures and YouTube videos. But the actual process of getting there? That is definitely not something I'm looking forward to. Night Driving "We learned pretty early on from our car trips to Omaha with Vi that our best bet for easy traveling was to take off shortly before she was ready to go to bed, and …
"Somebody missed a light," police said.
A taxi cab and a passenger car crashed at 57th and University avenues NE Wednesday morning. Fridley police said three people sustained minor injuries: one male in the taxi cab and two females in the car. Paramedics from Allina transported the car passengers from the scene in an ambulance. The front end of the taxi and the right side of the car sustained damage in the crash, which occurred at about 11 a.m. Wednesday. The taxi came to rest facing east in the westbound lanes of 57th Avenue, east of University Avenue. The car was in the grass on the northeast corner near the bus stop. "Somebody missed a light," said Fridley Police Sgt. Rick Crestik, who added that 80 percent of crashes result from failure to yield. Schmit Towing had the …

Fridley Patch asked Fridley Police Lt. Mike Monsrud three questions about ongoing cases involving the department. Fridley Patch: Has the department finished its internal investigation into that recent misconduct charge? Lt. Mike Monsrud: We should wrap up the investigation later this week. Fridley Patch: Has the department received tips related to the bullets fired at a house? Monsrud: We have not received any tips or new information on the shots fired at the house. Fridley Patch: Did the department ask the Anoka County Attorney to file charges against the suspect who allegedly swerved toward a Fridley officer in a squad car during a high speed chase? Monsrud: The case has been sent to the Anoka County Attorney’s office for review. I would…

Prosecutors say he veered toward squad car and later promised to kill police.
Fridley Police plan to ask for additional charges in Anoka County against a Fridley man who led police in a high-speed chase Sunday evening that ended with the car he's accused of stealing overturned in a Spring Lake Park front yard. William Harragan, 20, faces charges in Hennepin County with stealing a car in Brooklyn Park and fleeing Brooklyn Center officers on Sunday. Harragan stole the car to get home, according to the criminal complaint. After the chase crossed the river into Fridley, Harragan steered the vehicle toward an occupied Fridley squad car in the 7400 block of Baker Street NE, according to Lt. Mike Monsrud. He said the Fridley officer avoided a head-on collision by steering the squad into a parking lot. According to the …
