The Readers' Choice poll includes: As of Wednesday at lunch time, the Shorewood has a wide but not insurmountable lead. Voting is open through the weekend. Did we miss any businesses? Readers' Choice patio poll has another week to go.
You'll find lots of nice outdoor places to eat in the Star Tribune's Patio Guide 2012 and similar listings in the current issue of The Onion and coming in the St. Paul Pioneer Press. But none of them (so far anyway) are in Fridley. For that, you need to check out Fridley Patch's current Readers' Choice poll: Best patio in (or near) Fridley. You can take the poll below. Here is some of what you might have missed if you were busy preparing for the holidays last week.
These are some of the ways Fridley made news last week—at Fridley Patch and elsewhere. You can still get gas and repair services at Fridley Amstar Auto Care, even after a fire gutted the attached car wash structure behind the service station. Owner Ray Witz told Fridley Patch he didn't know yet if he'll rebuild. Fire Chief John Berg said fire fighters' quick work and solid barrier between buildings kept the flames contained. You can thank a Fridley man if you like your Lake Superior shipwrecks preserved. As a founder of the Great Lakes Shipwreck Preservation Society, Ken Merryman works to keep wrecks intact and preserve artifacts on shore or even return them to wreck sites.
