Winterfest Outlook: Warm and Cool!

It'll be partly sunny with a chance of dogsled rides.

The weather for Fridley's Winterfest Saturday will be warmer than usual, with a high of 29 degrees under partly sunny skies, and a west wind between 9 and 13 mph, according to the National Weather Service

The festival is 1–4 p.m. Saturday at and the , with the at the community center from 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

There is less snow on the ground than last year but as of Friday afternoon organizers were still planning on dogsled rides outside the community center. According to Sue Johnson of the Fridley Parks and Recreation Department, "[we] won’t know until the [dogsled] company comes out and assesses the area. If there are no rides, we will have the dogs on display for petting, questions, and answers."

, including several events that are new this year:

  • Minnesota Timberwolves representatives will be at the community center with an inflatable basketball game, giving out promotional items and prizes
  • Go Health Chiropractic will be giving free chair massages
  • The ZONE will be open to all kids in grades 5–8, with games, contests and free admission passes for the afterschool ZONE program

The first clue to the medallion hunt will be given at 1:15 p.m., with a new clue every half hour until it's found. The prize is $100, sponsored by Fridley Patch.
