Unity Hospital Hosts 'Free Bikes 4 Kidz' Event

Allina employees, dignitaries will give away 175 bicycles.

in Fridley is hosting a Free Bikes 4 Kidz bicycle giveaway event Saturday, Dec. 10, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Unity employees collected 200 bikes for low-income children, part of about 4,000 collected at 20 Allina hospitals and clinics, according to a statement from Allina. Partner organizations in the community helped Allina identify the children who will receive the bikes on Saturday.

Unity Hospital President Lori Wightman will lead dozens of volunteers in giving away the bicycles. Also set to be on hand for the start of the event at 11 a.m. are state Sen. Pam Wolf, who represents parts of central and northeast Fridley, as well as five members of the Anoka County Board of Commissioners: Rhonda Sivarajah (chair), Robyn West (vice chair), Carol LeDoux, Dan Erhart and Matt Look.
