Nickel Jamboree Wednesday at Fridley's Commons Park

Drawing class and community theater production are among other events this week in Fridley.

The city of Fridley's Parks & Recreation Department will hold  a Nickel Jamboree for kids at Commons Park from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday (July1). 
Activities will include carnival games, puppet shows, face painting, hayrides, popcorn and beverages!  Most activities are just 10 to 50 cents.
An adult should accompany children under age 6, say Parks & Rec officials.  
Commons Park is located at 555 - 61st Avenue NE.  
Meanwhile, here are a few other things going on in Fridley this week: 

Monday 
Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts in Fridley is offering a week-long class starting today (Monday) titled "Botanical Drawing for Kids." The arts center is located at  6666 East River Road.
Taught by artist and teacher Elna Goodspeed, students in Botanical Drawing will learn to examine plant and other natural specimens through detailed, precise rendering in pencil.
The class is geared towards kids 8- to 15-years- old.  Class is $30 per student for the week.  Call 763.574.1850, email info@banfill-locke.org, or stop into the Center to sign up.

Thursday 

This is the first day in Anoka County and across the rest of Minnesota that gay and lesbian couples will be able to marry.

Friday

The Fridley Community Theatre will present its final performances of "Fiddler on The Roof" this coming Friday night and weekend.  Shows are at 7 p.m. Friday (Aug. 2) and Saturday (Aug. 3) at the  Fridley District Auditorium; 6000 West Moore Lake Dr; Fridley. There is also a show at 3 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 4).
