In years past you might have gotten off with a warning, but this year the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources officials say this year you could get a ticket for violating state laws and practices that keep aquatic invasive species from spreading.
Three things to do before you transport a boat:
- Take out the boat's drain plug and keep it outd.
- Take off all vegetation from the boat and trailer.
- Drain all water from compartments and containers on the boat, including bilge, live wells, ballast tanks and bait buckets.
Citations range from $50 to $1,000.
