Spring Lake Park's Auman 11th after Day 1 at State Golf Meet

His 74 was four shots off the pace at state AAA meet.

Spring Lake Park junior Nick Auman finished the first day of the Class AAA state boys golf tournament tied for 11th place overall.

Auman is tied with 10 other golfers in 11th place after 18 holes at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids. His first-round score of 74 is four shots off the pace. Forest Lake’s Max Kelly currently sits alone in first with a round of 70.

Auman was set to tee off at 8:06 a.m. on Wednesday. (Rain delayed the start of the Class A and AA tournaments Wednesday but not Class AAA, according to the Minnesota State High School League website. )

In the team competition, Eden Prairie and Rogers each tied for first with 299 after the first day, while two-time defending champion Wayzata finished the day third at 301.

On the girls side, Spring Lake Park junior Miranda Olson finished up Day 1 of the state tournament with a 101. She is tied for 80th place after Tuesdays’ round.

New Prague freshman McKenzie Neisen, who leads the tournament with a 71.
