Fridley's Ambuhl Makes It through State Diving Prelims

The Tigers' sophomore finished the day in 14th place and will compete in Saturday's Class A final.

Fridley sophomore Alex Ambuhl competed in the Class A state boys diving preliminary meet at the University of Minnesota Acquatic Center on Thursday, finishing in 14th place.

The Tigers’ lone diving participant ended the day at 185.75 points.

He will compete Saturday in the state swimming and diving finals, which begin at noon.

Detroit Lakes senior Jon Melgaard is leading the 15-diver group heading into Saturday with 301.85 points. Hill-Murray’s Joe McGrath is second with 241.45 points, and Tony Kottke of Princeton is third at 225.35 points.
