Fridley-area Runners Compete at MN High School Track Meet

Athletes from Fridley, Spring Lake Park, Totino-Grace teams participated.

Several athletes from three Fridley-area high schools—, and (on a merged team with St. Anthony Village High School)—competed in the state high school track and field meet Friday and Saturday at Hamline University. Here are the results

MN Boys State Track Meet
Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony Village: CJ Janu (11) placed second in the 300 meter hurdles (37.94), in which the winner, Rilwan Alwonle of Park High School, set a new state record (36.59). Janu also placed third in the 110 meter hurdles.

Spring Lake Park: Bryant Lymburn (12) tied for seventh-highest in the pole vault (13 feet) with three others.

Totino-Grace: Alex Wagner (12) placed fifth (22.17) in the 200 meter dash.

Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony team of Justin Greaves (11), Jacob Ojile (11), CJ Janu (11) and David Shadduck (12) placed eighth in the 4x200 meter relay (1:29.92). The winning team, North (North St. Paul), set a new state record of 1:27.53.

Overall team final rankings: Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony Village was 15th with 20 points. Totino-Grace was 42nd with 5 points.

MN Girls State Track Meet
Fridley: Hannah Niewald (12) placed seventh in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 46.34.

Totino-Grace: Casie Pawlick (11) placed third in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.65.

Totino-Grace: The 4x800 meter relay team of Kylie McSherry (10) Darian Winslow (11), Amy Gasperlin (9) and Taylor McDonald (11) placed ninth with a time of 9:33.81.

Overall team rankings: Totino-Grace tied with Eastview for 42nd with 9 points. Fridley tied with four other schools fore 59th place with 3 points.
