Fridley American Legion Baseball Players Set ERA, Batting Average Records

The Post 303 team recognized star players at an end-of-year banquet.

The Post 303 Legion Baseball Team concluded their 26th season by hosting a season-ending banquet to celebrate the season's performance.

The team, made up of players from Fridley and Totino-Grace High School, finished the season with a record of 22-14 and finished in the top 3 in three separate tournaments this summer. 

At the banquet, players were recognized who contributed to the team's success this summer:

Rookie MVP: Dominic Wippler, who will begin his senior year at Totino-Grace High School, finished the season with a .318 batting average

Pitcher of the Year: Gabe Kastenmeier, a 2012 Graduate from Totino-Grace High School. Gabe finished the season with 7 wins and 0 losses, facing 187 batters and giving up 31 hits. His .64 season ERA is the lowest of any Post 303 Player in the history of the program.

Batting Champion: Mikey Anderson, a 2011 Graduate from Totino-Grace High school. Mikey completed the season with 26 singles, 21 doubles, 1 triple and 4 home runs resulting in an .837 slugging percentage. His .500 batting average is the highest season average of any player in the history of the Post 303 program. 

Team MVP: Mikey Anderson

The team says goodbye to five players who will further their baseball careers in college this next season, after numerous years of playing for the Post 303 program. 

Tyler Flakne (3 year player), a Fridley resident and 2011 Graduate of Totino-Grace. Tyler will pitch for Augsburg College. 

Marcus O'Neill (4 year player), a 2011 Graduate of Totino-Grace. Marcus plays baseball for Augstana College.

Daniel Heck (3 year player), a 2011 Graduate of Totino-Grace. Danny plays hockey and plans to play baseball for St. Johns University. 

Damon George (2 year player), a 2011 Graduate of Fridley. Damon plays baseball for Bethel University. 

Mikey Anderson (3 year player), a 2011 Graduate of Totino-Grace. Mikey will play for Morningside College in Sioux City, IA.
