Columbia Heights Defeats DeLeSalle 61-57 in Boys Basketball Section Final

The Hylanders move on to the state tournament.

The Columbia Heights High School boys’ basketball team defeated DeLaSalle High School 61-57 Friday night at Blaine High School to win the Section 3AAA championship. The Hylanders now head to the state tournament next week.

The competition was tight throughout the game. Columbia Heights' leading scorer Zach Lofton scored in the first 30 seconds, then DeLaSalle's Lamonte Hall came back with a three-point shot. The largest spread in points came in the last 90 seconds when Columbia Heights took the lead by six points.

In the game's final minutes tensions ran high, with fans were on their feet as both teams fight hard for the win. Columbia Heights starting seniors FayMis Freeman and Zach Lofton fouled out, but the Hylanders were able to hold on to the lead.

Columbia Heights had two players who scored in double digits: Zach Lofton (25) and Jordan Mills (15). DeLaSalle had three players who scored in double digits: Bretson McNeal (20), LaMonte Hall (12) and Riley Dearring (10).
