Spring Lake Park HS Principal Sommers to Step Down

Assistant Principal Jane Stevenson will replace him.

Principal Bill Sommers will leave his job at the end of the school year, according to the school district. Assistant Principal Jane Stevenson will take his place.

Sommers has been principal at the high school since fall of the 2010-11 school year. He came to the district in July 2009 to lead the district's Learning Alternatives Program.

Stevenson arrived at Spring Lake Park High School in July 2010 after stints as principal at Inver Grove Heights Middle School and associate principal at Eden Prairie High School.

Superintendent Jeff Ronneberg said Sommers and Stevenson have shared duties this school year, according to the district website:

"Prior to Spring Lake Park, Jane and Bill also worked together in the Eden Prairie and Minneapolis School Districts, so they have enjoyed a long association as colleagues. This will make for a seamless transition for Stevenson as she takes the reins at the high school."
