POLL: Your Take on Anoka-Hennepin Schools Policy Change?

A bit of Fridley is in the district, where the board changed its policy on teaching about sexual orientation.

The Anoka-Hennepin school board replaced its policy Monday on how teachers should deal with the topic of sexual orientation in the classroom.

Scott Wenzel, who represents Fridley on the Anoka-Hennepin board, expressed satisfaction, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press:

"This policy is truly a compromise, and I truly hope it will move this district and this community forward. ... This has been a long time coming and I'm very happy we were able to get to this point."

Wenzel was specific about his objections to the past policy, according to The American Independent:

“We are removing a policy that has singled out one minority group in this district.”
