Document: Lawsuit against Anoka-Hennepin Schools

Civil-rights groups sued the district Thursday on behalf of individual students.

Two national civil-rights groups filed a lawsuit on behalf of five current and former students Thursday against the Anoka-Hennepin School District. The suit alleges discrimination in the district's policies on the  sexual orientation and mistreatment of students based on their actual or perceived sexual orientation.

Fridley's far northwestern corner along the Mississippi River, north of 79th Way NE and west of Main Street NE, is part of the Anoka-Hennepin School District, the state's largest district.

The civil complaint does not appear to name specifically the schools which have attendance areas that include Fridley (). However, Riverview Elementary, just across the river from Fridley, is named in the suit ().
