Whereabouts of Suspected GPS Thieves Unknown: Fridley Police Blotter

Friend suspects them of taking $25 too.

A caller told police that someone took $25 and a brand-new GPS unit from her house in the 500 block of 63rd Avenue NE. She said she suspected two male friends she had invited over, but she didn't have a phone number for either of them and didn't know where they live.

Here are more items selected from information provided by the Fridley Police Department:

  • Police caught one of three boys they suspected of trying vehicle door-handles in the 5800 block of Second Street NE just after midnight on June 13 for fleeing from police and violating curfew.
  • Juveniles who turned out to be teaching each other CPR next to a pool in the 5800 block of East River Road on June 13 prompted a police response. The officer advised the juveniles about the waste of police resources for false alarms.
  • An officer responding to a report of someone throwing rocks over the soundwall at cars exiting I-694 onto University Avenue NE on June 14 found a boy hiding in the woods. The officer lectured the boy and released him to his parents.
  • A driver without a valid driver's license struck the left rear quarter-panel of a Fridley police squad car on June 14 on southbound Central Avenue NE near I-694.
  • A spilled fast-food drink was to blame in a two-vehicle crash at 57th Avenue and Third Street NE on June 15. Both drivers said they had neck pain but neither went to the hospital. Police cited the driver of the car that did not cause the crash for not having current proof of insurance.
  • Police took a report of an injured snapping turtle on the bike path in the 400 block of 71st Avenue NE on June 15 but a responding officer could not find it.
  • Police cited a renter in the 600 block of Osborne Road NE for a loud party on June 15 due to a record of several police calls for the same problem.

In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Incidents generally appear in the order in which they were reported, not necessarily the order in which they occurred.
