Snow? Know Where and When to Park in Fridley During Winter

With people on the Fridley Patch Facebook page talking about falling snowflakes, it's a good time for the perennial question: What are the rules on parking during winter months in the city of Fridley?

The quick answer: Fridley doesn't have snow emergencies like some cities do. Instead winter parking restrictions are in effect from November 1 through April 1 of the next year.

So don't get a ticket—or worse yet, towed. Take a minute to read through the winter parking ordinance in the City of Fridley flier (see PDF) or below:

506.04. UNATTENDED VEHICLES
1. No person shall stop, park or leave a vehicle unattended upon a street or highway in the City for a period in excess of 24 hours.
2. No person shall stop, park or leave a vehicle unattended upon a street or highway in the City between the hours of 2:00 o’clock a.m. and 6:00 o’clock a.m. between the first day of November of any year, to and including the first day of April of the following year. (Ref Ord 1162)

506.05. SNOW REMOVAL - VIOLATION AND TOWING

1. During the winter months, commencing on the first day of November of any year, to and including the first day of April of the following year, it shall be a violation for any person to stop, park or leave standing a vehicle on any street or highway in such a manner as to impede the plowing and/or removal of any snow, ice, or waste on such street or highway.

2. Whenever it shall be found necessary to the proper direction control, regulation of traffic, plowing and/or the removal of snow, ice or waste, or maintenance or improvement of any highway or street to remove any vehicle standing on a highway or street in the City, then any police officer is authorized to provide for the removal of such vehicle and have the same removed to the nearest convenient garage or other place of safety. Any vehicle stopped, parked or left standing on any highway or street in violation of law and removed as provided therein above, may be removed upon order of a police officer and the cost of removal and storage of the same charged to the owner of the vehicle, as well as the person causing such violation.
