Sewer Interceptor Causing 'Putrid Odor' Near Locke Lake
Fridley's public works director said the sewer interceptor poses no harm to the public.
Work on a sewer interceptor crossing the Mississippi has released a foul-smelling odor near Locke Lake that has led some residents to contact the city of Fridley.
"Metropolitan Council is working on the second barrel of a sewer interceptor crossing the Mississippi River," Fridley public works director James Kosluchar said. "The pipe and sewage are not normally exposed to air, so an atypical odor is present."
On Twitter, a Hartman Circle resident reported a "putrid odor" that she called "absolutely ridiculous."

Kosluchar said concerned residents can contact the sewer division at 763-572-3566 if they have questions or concerns.
