Brockovich Team: Klobuchar Supports Fridley Cancer Cluster Investigations

Erin Brockovich's environmental investigator says he spoke with senator's staff.

Bob Bowcock, ’s environmental investigator, met with staff members of U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (DFL-MN) Wednesday afternoon about the possibility that environmental causes are partially to blame for .

Bowcock has been gathering data in Fridley for more than a month, seeking a , in an effort to respond to concerns voiced by the , which now has almost 2,700 members.

In his conversation with Klobuchar’s staff, Bowcock said he discussed the seven in and around Fridley.

“The senator has expressed her overwhelming concern for the community and has pledged to share information and openly participate in all of the investigations and searches for answers,” Bowcock wrote Wednesday on the Facebook group’s discussion board.

(Klobuchar's Washington, D.C., office didn't return a call for comment on Thursday.)

Fridley Cancer Cluster founder Jason McCarty said he hoped Klobuchar’s involvement would lead to new information being released.

“She has access to confidential documents that we don't have access to,” he wrote on the group’s discussion board. “I am sure there are some out there as I have pulled up several that were then declassified.”

Bowcock is planning on visiting Fridley with Brockovich in mid-May.
