Most Nov. 8 Election Ballots in Fridley Feature School Tax Levies

First in a series: The Fridley School District.

Fridley residents in three school districts—Fridley (District 14), Spring Lake Park (District 16) and Anoka-Hennepin (District 11)—will be voting on school tax levies on Nov. 8. This is the first in a series on those levies and highlights information from the Fridley School District.

On Nov. 8, 2011, residents in the Fridley School District will be asked to vote on two questions:

  • Whether to renew for 10 years the existing school district’s operating referendum
  • Whether to renew for 10 years the existing capital projects levy that provides funds for facility maintenance projects and technology

Question One, if passed, would retain current staffing levels and maintain classroom programs and services.

Question Two, if passed, would maintain current buildings and grounds, and maintain technology systems (hardware and software).

Since each of these questions would renew a current levy, there will be no change in the school district portion of property taxes if the first is passed, and there will be a slight decrease if the second is passed.

On Aug. 16, the school board sent out to all residents affected by these tax levies that included a table with the exact costs to homeowners if either of the levies don't pass.
