East River Road Corridor Study Nearing Completion

Fridley council hears presentation Monday in preparation for Jan. 18 public hearing.

The Fridley City Council will get a run-through of the latest version of the East River Road Corridor Study at 6 p.m. Monday at before its regular meeting. (See slideshow.)

City Manager William Burns said by email that he expects Anoka County Multimodal Transportation Manager Kate Garwood to "show the Council where the plan is at this point. She's had numerous public meeting[s] and is coming to closure on the final plan. Since Council will be asked to vote on a final plan in March, it makes sens for them to get this update."

Fridley Planning Manager Julie Jones said the presentation Monday will give the council members a preview of the current status of the study ahead of a final public hearing on Jan. 18, 2012, at the .

Fridley Community Development Director Scott Hickok said by email that Monday's presentation will help make the most of the Jan. 18 meeting:

As the end of the project draws near and the final project document is being compiled, Council and the public are being asked to take a look at this level of details in this plan. ... This early run through the material  tonight will not only help to answer ERR project questions that Council may have at this point, but it will serve as a practice run to make sure the complex multi-layers of information is presented in the best way possible to answer public questions and provide the information to the public.

The plan hasn't seen big changes since the , Jones said—"a few adjustments here and there" on things such as cul de sacs and "right-in/right-out" intersections.
