Just a Test: National Emergency Alert System Test at 1 p.m.

It will be on radio and TV but no Anoka County sirens.

If you have a radio or TV on at 1 p.m. Wednesday, you'll get to be part of the first nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS).

It's only a test.

Sirens won't sound, at least not in Anoka County. But there will be a test audio and video signal on every TV and radio station for about 30 seconds.

The agencies behind the test are the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
