Hwy. 65 Closed for Bridge Work North of Osborne Road All Weekend

Traffic in both directions will be diverted between Osborne and 81st.

If your travels take you north of Fridley on Hwy. 65 this weekend, be forewarned: MnDOT will have the highway closed in both directions between Osborne Road and 81st Avenue NE from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. 

The closure will allow crews to work on the pedestrian bridge over the highway in Spring Lake Park, according to an announcement posted at the Minnesota Department of Transportation website

Motorists will experience delays as both directions of Highway 65 between Osborne Road N.E. and 81st Avenue N.E. close at 10 p.m. Friday, June 14.

The full closure is necessary as crews remove the deck of the Spring Lake Park Pedestrian Bridge that spans the roadway. Both directions of Highway 65 will re-open at 5 a.m. Monday, June 17.

Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, June 10, the bridge will be closed to pedestrians and bicyclists in preparation of the deck construction. The bridge will re-open to pedestrians by Aug. 30.

Residents who live near the workzone will hear construction noise overnight as crews update the bridge railing and prepare to install a new bridge deck.

Motorists may bypass the closed segment by utilizing the posted detour of I-694 to I-35W.

The work is part of the Spring Lake Park pedestrian bridge renewal project. The bridge, which spans Highway 65 at 80th Avenue N.E., will undergo renovation and pedestrian accessibility upgrades.
