Fridley Seeks 20 Volunteers to Fill Sandbags at High School Lot

Basements near Harris Lake are already flooded with more rain coming.

The City of Fridley has put out a call for 20 volunteers Friday to fill sandbags for residents around Harris Lake. The work started Friday afternoon and will continue until dark (about 9 p.m.).

If you can help, report to the parking lot, where a sandbag-filling station is being set up, according to Fridley Police Capt. Brian Weierke.

From there, Public Works Department trucks will transport the sandbags to neighborhood properties, many of which have experienced flooded basements from recent heavy rains.
