Fridley City Council to Hold Special Meeting Friday about Hiring City Manager

It won't be on live or recorded TV, but the March 29, 2013, meeting is open to the public meeting and staff will take minutes.

The Fridley City Council signaled Monday that members may be ready to choose finalists for the job of Fridley city manager at a special council meeting on Friday.

Council Member Ann Bolkcom made the motion at Monday's meeting to set the special meeting for 4:30 p.m., March 29, 2013, at Fridley City Hall. It passed without any "no" votes.

The purpose is "for us to receive more information from our consultant" on city manager candidates, Bolkcom said.

"In my estimation, it's not going to be a lengthy meeting," Mayor Scott Lund added.

The city manager position has been open since William Burns' resignation at the end of 2012. In the meantime, City Finance Director Darin Nelson has acted as interim city manager.
