Crime Alert: Fridley Residents Confront Burglar on Rice Creek Terrace East

Police say the suspect threatened to shoot but didn't show a gun.

Residents met a person at their back door last Friday who was trying to burglarize their home in the 1000 block of Rice Creek Terrace East, according to a crime alert issued by the Fridley Police Department.

"During the confrontation the suspect threatened to shoot the residents, although no weapon was displayed," the crime alert said (see PDF above). No one has been arrested in the incident, which took place on the residential street just east of Highway 65 and just south of . A police investigation continues.

The crime alert offers safety tips to make your home less convenient a target for thieves, including locking doors and windows, installing lights and alarms, and getting a dog.
