Reported missing: a $10,000 diamond ring, according to an earlier statement Monday from the sheriff's office that also included still images from the surveillance video.

That valuation has increased, the Star Tribune reported:

The value of the ring, with a 1.6-carat Leo diamond, is more than $15,000. The man asked to see a specific engagement ring for a closer look, the Sheriff's Office said. That's when he forced the ring from the clerk's hand and fled.

Here's the statement from the sheriff's office Wednesday:

On 12-30-12 the Coon Rapids Police Department responded to a strong arm robbery of the Kay Jewelry Store at Riverdale Mall.  A still photo was released at that time with a brief description of the crime.

We now have available the video of the actual robbery taking place and we are requesting assistance from the public in identifying the suspect in this case.  The employee of the store has a broken finger as a result of the robbery.  Witnesses saw the suspect flee the area in a Toyota Celica, white in color.  The suspect has been described as a White Male, 18-25 years in age, approximately 5’ 9” tall, clean shaven with shorter sandy blonde hair.

The case continues to be investigated by the Coon Rapids Police Department and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.  Anyone with information is asked to call (763) 427-1212.
