Thief Smashed Window for Six Empty Target Bags: Fridley Police Blotter

It had to be a disappointing haul.

Here are items selected from information provided by the Fridley Police Department:

Feb. 25: 

  • Someone smashed the passenger window of a vehicle parked at LifeTime Fitness, 1200 E. Moore Lake Dr., and stole six empty Target bags. 
  • Police took a very cold female from the 500 block of Osborne Road NE to her home in Mounds View.
  • A complainant in the 5200 block of Buchanan Street NE says he lost his wallet with his green card inside but doesn't know when or where.

  • A caller heard a gunshot in the 8000 block of Central Avenue NE but police checked the area and found nothing. 
  • A caller said she saw monsters in her apartment in the 7800 block of University Avenue NE. 
  • Police cited two males for stealing $50 worth of scrap metal at City Collision and Glass, 6501 E. River Rd. 
  • A male inside a suspicious vehicle at Seventh Street and 67th Avenue NE turned out to be a private investigator. 
  • A male stole a riding lawn mower from an estate sale in the 500 block of 66th Avenue NE. 
  • A complainant in the 7400 block of West Circle NE said a female took his pre-pay cell phone because she pays for the minutes although he said the phone is his. 

Feb. 27: 

  • A male walking in traffic in the 500 block of Osborne Road NE ended up in jail for obstructing the legal process. 
  • A family argument in the 600 block of Osborne Road NE arose after an alleged theft of gum. 

Feb. 28

  • A car got keyed while in the parking lot at Two Stooges bar, 7178 University Ave. NE. 
  • Fridley police responded with K9 partner Kona to help Blaine police investigate possible shots fired at an officer, but it was determined that the squad had a mechanical failure that caused the gunshot noise. 

March 1: 

  • Fridley police alerted authorities in Pembina County, ND, and Cornoa, CA, about separate reports of child abuse occurring there that were reported in Fridley. 
  • No one can figure out why car alarms on several vehicles in the 5800 block of Fifth Street NE keep going off. 
  • A male robbed Walgreens, 6525 University Ave NE, and fled to the north. 

March 2: 

  • Someone trying to steal coins from the vacuum at the Holiday station, 7295 University Ave. NE, succeeded only in damaging the vacuum. 
  • Someone stole a customer's iPad from his shopping cart at Sam's Club, 8150 University Ave. NE. 

In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Incidents generally appear in the order in which they were reported, not necessarily the order in which they occurred.
